About the Project:
Our firm is leading the supervision of a major Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA)-financed Highway Improvement Project in Bangladesh. As part of this national infrastructure initiative, the project will deliver both main carriageway upgrades and a comprehensive set of ancillary facilities to support long-term operation, safety, and resilience of the corridor.
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Facility Engineer to join our multidisciplinary team and take a key role in the design, supervision, and coordination of these essential facilities.
Facilities Covered by the Project:
According to JICA project documentation, the following facilities are included in the scope:
- Maintenance Facilities - Offices, garages, and depots for road maintenance operations
- Traffic Management Facilities - ITS equipment, control centers, surveillance systems, and signal infrastructure
- Service Areas - Public rest areas including toilets, kiosks, fuel stations, and parking bays
- Toll Plazas - Toll booths, control rooms, and electrical/communication systems for toll collection
- Disaster Resilience Facilities (if applicable) - Evacuation centers, flood control installations, or emergency shelters
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and supervise the construction of all non-roadway facilities in accordance with project timelines and JICA standards
- Coordinate architectural, structural, mechanical, and electrical systems across various sites
- Review contractor submittals, shop drawings, and technical specifications
- Manage day-to-day site activities, including inspections, quality monitoring, and contractor coordination
- Prepare progress reports, manage documentation, participate in meetings, and liaise with stakeholders
Required Knowledge and Experience:
- Solid grounding in building services engineering (including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire safety)
- Familiarity with M&E systems and ITS infrastructure (e.g., traffic control, tolling, communications)
- Experience interfacing with civil works including utility routing, foundations, and structural integration
- Understanding of international standards: BS, ASTM, IEC, and JICA design guidelines
- Experience in construction scheduling, QAPs, ITPs, and quality assurance practices
- Proven ability to coordinate with multiple specialized contractors (e.g., ICT, electrical, architectural)
- Comfortable preparing Minutes of Meetings (MOM), managing variation orders (VOs), non-conformance reports (NCRs), and punch lists
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit for drawing reviews
- Skilled in using MS Project or Primavera for tracking construction schedules
- Familiar with ISO 9001 (Quality), ISO 14001 (Environmental), and OSHA site safety standards
- Experience in transport infrastructure involving facilities such as toll plazas, ITS control centers, and service areas
- Prior experience working in Bangladesh, South Asia, or similar project environments
- Strong English communication skills (oral and written) for reporting and stakeholder engagement
