Job Description

We are currently looking for an Infrastructure Maintenance Project Manager to join us in Siemens Mobility – Edinburgh Tram business.

Reporting to the Head of Customer Services, Rolling Stock UK, you will lead the team of multidisciplinary Engineers and Technicians delivering the Edinburgh Tram Infrastructure Maintenance and Response service. The role has overall responsibility for delivering the service safely, meeting the required performance KPI’s, ensuring works are completed to schedule, on budget and to the required technical standards. The current high level of customer satisfaction will require to be maintained.

We are looking for someone with experience of managing a multidisciplinary maintenance organisation, preferably in the light rail sector. We are looking for someone who is not content with the status quo and is continuously searching for ways to improve the service delivery thorough innovation and adoption of best practice from any arena. Due to the nature of the role, you will be based out of our Edinburgh depot for most of the working week, however we are happy to consider flexible working arrangements.

This is your role

  • Be responsible for the Health, Safety and Wellbeing of all those within the team
  • Strategic overview and planning of available resources to meet current and future operational requirements
  • Ensure Infrastructure is maintained in compliance with all maintenance documentation, certificates, and Siemens policies, to ensure a standard which renders it for public service
  • Ensure Infrastructure maintenance procedures are continuously reviewed in light of any changes in legislation, changes in technology, innovation etc
  • Responsible for the implementation and ongoing management of the performance regime, monitoring reliability and performance trends and developing improvement proposals
  • Participate in developing short, medium- and long-term plans to achieve contract requirements in a cost-effective manner
  • Lead the team to achieve production contracted availability, reliability and budgetary targets meeting contractual KPI’s
  • Ensure the effective delivery of overhaul, modification, and upgrade projects, as specified by assigned project manager
  • Manage the presentation team to develop solutions to enhance service activities, integrating with production, project and technical teams (site specific)
  • Ensure material planning, stock holding inventory is managed efficiently to avoid risk of vehicles beings stopped awaiting material
  • Continuously develop this successful team by motivating, coaching, mentoring the members of the team
  • Ensure compliance with legislation, regulations, local and national standards associated with Tramway’s, along with both Edinburgh Trams and Siemens Mobility processes and procedures
  • Monitor relevant technological developments and encourage creativity and innovation within the maintenance delivery team
  • Siemens has a culture of zero tolerance for unsafe working and as a manager within Siemens you will ensure those guidelines are implemented and understood

What do you need to qualify for this job?

Essential

  • Previous experience in a Management role preferably in a maintenance delivery role within a multidisciplinary light rail environment
  • Qualified to HNC/HND level/Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, or have equivalent experience
  • APM PMQ Qualification
  • Contract and commercial Experience/knowledge
  • Good knowledge of IT systems
  • Excellent communicator both written and oral
  • Strong leadership and motivational skills
  • Experience of negotiating with workplace representatives
  • Knowledge of continuous improvement techniques and principles
  • Full Drivers Licence

Preferred

  • An understanding of the specified engineering standards for the maintenance of Tramway Infrastructure and ensuring these are followed and implemented ensuring any changes to standards are timeously incorporated into processes and procedures
  • IOSH/ NEBOSH certificate in Health and Safety or equivalent experience
  • Understanding of industry maintenance best practice
  • Member of or working towards membership of a professional institution
  • An understanding of Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) and their reporting functions
  • Working knowledge of ISO9001, ISO14001 and ISO45001 standards in an Infrastructure Maintenance environment
