Join a major UK Train Operating Company delivering a final phase of digital enhancements to their Class 323 fleet.
Ganymede Solutions is working in partnership with a leading Train Operating Company to recruit experienced Mechanical Fitters for a focused 13-week upgrade programme at Manchester International Depot. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in a high-value digitalisation project, enhancing onboard passenger equipment across the fleet.
As a Mechanical Fitter, you’ll play a key role in the mechanical installation of onboard digital systems, ensuring consistent technology integration across the entire fleet. This is an ideal role for experienced fitters with a strong background in rolling stock and a passion for quality, safety, and teamwork.
Key Responsibilities:
• Carry out mechanical fitting of digital passenger systems, including Wi-Fi, CCTV, USB charging points, and information displays
• Interpret and follow detailed modification and installation instructions for interior systems
• Use a variety of mechanical fitting tools to install equipment safely and precisely
• Collaborate closely with the wider engineering team to complete tasks to specification and schedule
• Accurately record work completed and report any issues, tooling needs, or material shortages
• Work safely within a busy rail depot environment and adhere to all safety protocols
The ideal candidate will have:
• A Level 3 qualification in mechanical engineering or related trades
• A minimum of 3 years’ experience working within the rolling stock industry
• Strong mechanical fitting skills with the ability to follow modification instructions and technical drawings
• A proactive approach to supporting team progress, communicating clearly, and escalating challenges where necessary
• The ability to pass a Medical and Drugs & Alcohol test
• Right to Work documentation prepared for pre-employment compliance
• A flexible, reliable, and safety-conscious work ethic
