Mobile Locomotive Maintainer in Rugby, West Midlands, United Kingdom
Samuel Knight are looking to speak with candidates from a Rail or engineering maintenance/technician background. Heavy vehicle maintenance is advantageous. Military engineering is also advantageous.
This role involves travelling to various depots in the midlands where a Van and Fuelcard will be provided.
Please note that rail experience is NOT essential, however desired. An engineering/heavy vehicle repair background is required. All training will be provided and the opportunity to gain more qualifications.
What you will be doing:
You will need to run fault diagnosis and rectification on electrical, mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems to ensure they are all in order.
You will need to have strong co-operation skills and like to work in small and large teams as you will have to co-operate with the Maintenance Team co-ordinator and fellow Team Members at the depot. This is to ensure that all work associated with the maintenance, repair and overhaul of Traction & Rolling is completed professionally, safe and completed within the strict time frame.
You will need to be alert and knowledgeable to ensure any necessary action is needed to remove potential hazards.
To keep in control of Health, Safety and Welfare of yourself and your colleagues
You will be expected to help and assist with any breakdown or/and recovery operations and other rolling stock related incidents that are required.
You will be required to assist in the management of Safe Systems of Work and Risk Assessments.
You will need to understand and work to Maintenance Plans (VMOI).
You will be required to generate reports for any on-going work, Condition Reports and Production Reports.
You will be expected to report any defective items.
You will be contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.
If necessary you will be required to play an active part in accident investigations.
Once fully trained you will be expected to assist with on the job training of other Team Members, trainees and contractors where necessary.
It is essential that undertake and engage in any training required which will assist in the development of the team and the running of the depot and on beyond.
You will be required to work with various classes of Rolling Stock so it is essential you are willing to learn and develop as this is a multi-skilled role.
You will be required to operate various powered devices (subject to training / certification and reassessment).
It is essential for safe working that the site is clean so you will be required to assist with the upkeep of a clean and safe working environment.
Experience within a similar role in the rail sector would advantageous, however not essential.
Please note: Successful candidates will work shifts (2 nights in 3 weeks). Subject to change.
