Position: Principle Consultant, Cost Modelling/Planning (Transport or Infrastructure) (Perm Contract)
Target: Principle Planning/Cost Modelling Consultant with, A relevant degree (Class 2:1 or above) in a numerate discipline e.g. economics, mathematics, business, engineering, science or Operational Research;

They are regarded by financial institutions as one of the leading providers of buy and sell side technical advisory services across transport-related infrastructure transactions, and pursue these opportunities in line with the market.
They help their clients to succeed by solving their toughest problems. Consultants play a vital role in delivering these solutions, and need to display high levels of analytical rigour alongside tenacity, agility and organisational skills on a daily basis.
The successful candidate will:
* Have experience of leading major projects and lead on small to medium-sized projects in areas such as: strategy development, due diligence, risk appraisal, project monitoring, demand, revenue and cost modelling, performance modelling, business case and economic appraisal;
* Prepare technical reports for public and private sector clients;
* Serve as project manager or technical lead for a significant volume of high quality profitable client work;
* Effectively present high quality technical work to clients;
* Be actively involved in the preparation of bids and marketing to win new projects.
* Pro-actively develop skills both on the job and from formal training and share knowledge with colleagues.
Essential requirements for this role:
* A relevant degree (Class 2:1 or above) in a numerate discipline e.g. economics, mathematics, business, engineering, science or operational research;
* Prior experience of leading the development and use of business models; including demand and revenue forecasting, crowding modelling, feasibility studies, performance, business case and economic appraisal, construction and operating & maintenance costs;
* Excellent analytical skills;
* Experience of producing high quality technical reports for public and/or private sector clients;
* Have experience in one or more related sectors (e.g. rail, aviation, ports and waterways, highways and toll roads, social infrastructure);
* Have a keen interest in sectors we serve with an eye for identifying synergies and future trends; and
* An ability to work effectively as part of a team and to share ideas and expertise with team members to support ongoing learning and improvement.
Desirable characteristics for this role include:
* A post-graduate Transport qualification or MBA;
* Awareness and practical experience in the use of industry software, and knowledge of industry standards (e.g. design and build standards, maintenance standards, asset management standards, operational standards, contract standards, Passenger Demand Forecasting Handbook);
* Advanced user of spreadsheets, including a clear understanding and commitment to modelling best practice ;
* Industry experience within a relevant sector; and
* Knowledge of a second language.
