Providing a comprehensive portfolio of rolling stock services that aid in addressing the challenges that come with an ever-evolving industry.
The Project Engineering Team is a critical strategic department in DB ESG, ensuring that customers are being delivered with high quality, in depth proposal packs. Within this team you will be working on huge variety of projects from short term (4weeks) to multi-year deliveries.
You will be responsible for delivering projects and ensuring activities completed fully satisfy the agreed scope of supply in accordance with the contract.
Key requirements of the Project Engineer Role:
- Developing and managing work packages across design, modification, and engineering assurance
- Supporting bid creation, proposals, and technical submissions
- Attending design reviews (internally and with clients)
- Coaching junior engineers and supporting capability growth within the team
- Ensuring governance, WBS accuracy, and change control across assigned packages
- Building and maintaining key technical and commercial relationships
- This is a strategic hire, giving you the scope to influence delivery models, shape internal processes, and contribute to innovation across the team.
Experience required for the Project Engineer Role:
- 5+ years' experience within high-integrity engineering (rail, aerospace, defence, or similar)
- Strong track record delivering engineering projects in a consultancy or OEM environment
- Knowledge of railway standards and documentation: design packs, compliance documents, risk assessments, etc.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Experience with work breakdown structures (WBS), project costing, and estimating
- Comfortable leading from the front and mentoring junior staff
Desirable knowledge for the Project Engineer Role
- Background in rolling stock or traction systems
- Understanding of railway certification and approvals
- Interest in emerging technologies within rail
