Drainage hydraulic & River Specialist - Transport Infrastructure (Philippines)

About the Role

We're seeking an experienced Drainage & River Specialist to join an international consultancy's multidisciplinary team supporting feasibility, detailed design, and technical advisory for major Rail, Metro, and Road projects in the Philippines. You'll lead hydrology/hydraulics workstreams, shape climate-resilient strategies, and provide practical, buildable solutions across urban and periurban corridors.

Key Responsibilities

• Design Review: Review detailed design drawings, particularly drainage design components for railway and depot projects.
• Construction & Engineering Management: Manage hydraulic, drainage, river structures, and utilities during construction phases, ensuring compliance with approved designs and specifications.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Conduct consultations with stakeholders to align technical solutions and project requirements.
• Site Supervision: Perform periodic site inspections to monitor progress and ensure adherence to quality standards.
• Project Monitoring: Track all project activities, identify potential issues, and implement corrective actions to maintain timelines and quality.
• Methodology & Documentation: Review contractor's work methods, shop drawings, temporary facilities, and work procedures for compliance.
• Reporting: Assist the Project Manager in preparing monthly progress reports and other documentation required for project completion.
• Quality Assurance & Control: Ensure strict adherence to QA/QC protocols throughout design and construction phases.

About You

• Education: Bachelor's in Civil/Environmental Engineering (or related). Professional licensure (PRC) preferred; CEng/PE or progress toward chartership is an advantage.
• Experience: 8-15+ years in drainage/river engineering, with demonstrable delivery on transport infrastructure (Rail/Metro/Road) in the Philippines or similar tropical environments.
• Technical Toolkit:
• Hydrology/hydraulics modeling (1D/2D) and design of urban/linear drainage systems.
• Working knowledge of SuDS/LID, floodplain management, scour protection, culverts, bridges, tunnels.
• Software: HECRAS, HECHMS, SWMM, MIKE 11/21, InfoWorks ICM, GIS (ArcGIS/QGIS), CAD/BIM (AutoCAD/Civil 3D/Revit).
• Strengths: Clear communicator, proactive problem solver, collaborative with multidisciplinary teams; comfortable leading deliverables to tight timescales.
• Nice to Have: Experience on Metro/Rail depot/station drainage, resilience/climate adaptation, nature-based solutions, and contractor liaison during construction.

Salary

In the region of $10-12,000 per month tax free plus allowances.
