Are you a planning manager with experience of working on major rail infrastructure projects?

Have you experience working client side or for a consultancy dealing with key stakeholders?

Rate: £450-£475 day inside IR35
Location: Leeds 3 days a week
Contract length: 1 year with potential of +3

If you have a strong background in major rail projects and are an expert in programme-level scheduling, this could be the perfect opportunity for you.

We are looking for someone with extensive knowledge of Primavera P6, NEC4 contracts, and a proven ability to integrate complex schedules from multiple contractors on large-scale engineering ventures.

Role and Responsibilities:
This is your chance to make a significant impact on one of the UK's most important and long-term infrastructure schemes, the Transpennine Route Upgrade (TRU). This landmark project is transforming connectivity across the North of England, and you will be at the heart of its delivery.

As the Planning Manager, you will be based in the Leeds city centre office, working closely with the project delivery team. Your primary responsibility will be to manage and integrate multiple contractor programmes into a single, cohesive master schedule.

This is a client-facing role that involves significant stakeholder engagement, presenting schedule updates, and providing strategic guidance to ensure project milestones are met. Your day-to-day activities will focus on schedule assurance, strategy development, and leading the planning function for a critical section of the project.

Benefit package
You will be joining a leading consultancy with an excellent reputation and a strong pipeline of work. This provides outstanding job security and clear opportunities for continued professional development and career progression.

Employment type
This opportunity is available on both a permanent and contract basis to suit your personal and professional preferences. While the role is office-based in Leeds, the long-term nature of the project offers exceptional stability.

Company culture
You'll be part of a collaborative and supportive team where shared success is celebrated. The company has a strong and growing presence in the North, with offices in both Leeds and Manchester. This ensures fantastic long-term career prospects on other exciting commercial and infrastructure projects long after TRU is complete.

What you'll need
A minimum of 10 years' experience on major engineering projects.
At least 5 years' experience in project and programme planning on major rail schemes.
Expert-level knowledge of Primavera P6, including database management.
In-depth understanding of NEC4 contractual requirements for scheduling.
Proven experience integrating multiple contractor submissions into a master programme.
Proficiency in using Power BI for reporting and data visualisation.
Experience leading and motivating planning teams.
Excellent client-facing communication and presentation skills.
Willingness to be based in Leeds for the project duration.

If you have the experience to help drive this landmark rail project forward and this sounds like the challenge you've been waiting for, don't hesitate. Get in touch with Oliver Gooch at Carrington West today to discuss how you can make your mark.
