*Job Summary
AECOM has secured a 10 year framework with Network Rail and Colas Rail for the design and delivery of all Switch and Crossing (S&C) renewals across the whole of the south of the UK. This includes track, signalling, OLE, ETE and points heating designs for a large number of sites, stretching from Anglia, Kent and Sussex in the East, Wales, Western and Wessex in the West, and the LNW (London North West) route from Euston to Birmingham.
In addition, we are working on the enabling works at Euston for HS2, delivering the staging and permanent design for GRIP 3, 4 and 5, to allow the full HS2 scheme to commence. We have design offices in Swindon, Stratford and Birmingham, and are looking to strengthen our multi-discipline teams in all three locations.
AECOM are looking to recruit a Responsible Engineer, to manage OLE design associated with the Framework Contract. You will be based out of our site office in Stratford, London however you may be expected to undertake site visits and to work in other locations within the UK for short periods if necessary.
The successful candidate will provide technical support, tender preparation and cost estimates as necessary.
Within the role you will take responsibility for railway OLE design as well as the following;
Carry out conceptual designs and detailed design on a wide variety of projects in the railways environment primarily associated with S&C renewals
Prepare reports and similar documentation to client requirements
Set and manage project, technical, safety and quality targets/objectives
Undertake site supervision, site visits and site surveys
Be responsible for confirming that the discipline design complies with all applicable National Rail standards, legislation, contract requirements and specifications
Be responsible for managing the interface between design, installation and testing
Implement all design production and checking, including mentoring as appropriate, and processes applicable to the specific engineering discipline.
Be responsible for confirming that the material and equipment used within the discipline design complies with all applicable NR product acceptance standards
Prepare bids and tender submissions
Deliver designs to programme and budget
*Minimum Requirements To be successful in this role you will have the following experience;
Considerable experience of Network Rail and/or other railway M&E systems, including a complete understanding of the system design requirements especially with regard to OLE infrastructure.
Design & Design Management in electrical distribution, generation and utilisation, including specification, site working and testing, asset acceptance, standards, etc
Proven design management and/or project management experience
Proven ability in the management of quality systems
Proven ability to manage teams and resources *Preferred Qualifications Ideally a first degree in either Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
Minimum of HNC in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
Member of the IET or the IMechE
Chartered Engineer or Incorporated Engineer
