We are looking for a new Senior Health and Safety Advisor to join our Health & Safety team to support the growth of the business and promote compliance with the Safety Management System.

About the vacancy:
Coombes requires a Senior Health and Safety Advisor, experienced in the rail industry, to play an active role in our busy Health & Safety team, on a full-time permanent basis to grow with the Company.
The successful applicant will proactively maintain and develop their knowledge of health, safety and welfare at work legislation and best practice, ensuring Coombes not only meets its legal and contractual obligations but acts as an industry leader in its Health and Safety practices. We are looking for a confident professional who takes a hands-on approach in supporting and directing line managers and operatives alike, to work at the highest safety standards.
As Senior Health and Safety Advisor, you will design, implement, review and evaluate a range of documented plans, procedures and on-site measures to meet requirements and re-enforce positive health and safety behaviours. You will take an active role in accident investigations, conducting risk assessments, inspections and audits, ensure compliance across the Company and help to embed a strong Health & Safety culture at Coombes.
This role will require you to be an excellent communicator who is self-motivated, able to work autonomously and coach junior team members. As well as sharing the ethos and values of our Company and having recent and significant experience within the Rail industry, candidates must have the following:
- NEBOSH Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety, or near completion, or similar
- PTS (Personal Track Safety)
- Training and excellent working knowledge of COSHH, PUWER and LOLER
- Accident investigation experience
- IOSH membership
Whilst this role will be based at our head office in Hampshire, you will travel frequently to sites across south, central and west England. The successful candidate must therefore have a full driving licence.
Salary: £40-45,000 DOE + company van for business use.
Working hours: 40 hours per week, to be worked Monday - Friday, 8am - 5pm with 1hr unpaid break. This role will require some out of hours working, including at weekends and evenings.
