Senior Operations Manager
A leading client in the Rail Rolling Stock Industry is recruiting for a Senior Operations Manager to work on a contract basis, based at their site in Widnes, Chesire.
Purpose of the Role
Reporting to the Head of Operations, responsibilities include the planning, leading and mentoring of Operations Managers and operational employees to ensure project and business deliverables are achieved or exceeded whilst achieving contractual obligations. Support the preparation and execution of internally produced services/parts and internally based projects in accordance with customer expectations whilst adhering to requirements. Measure and improve KPI’s, taking containment and remedial action where necessary.
Responsibilities
Achieve QCD requirements of customers and business
Support the planning and execution of internally produced services/parts and internally based projects.
Manage, mentor and organise operations employees including product testers, to deliver daily production requirements in order to meet the project/business objectives.
Ensure that current and future manpower requirements and production capacity are accurately identified and effectively resourced
Manage recruitment, training and induction of operation / project staff.
Ensure that critical issues are identified and proactively developed and agree mitigation initiatives.
Ensure key project stakeholders are informed and aligned toward project goals.
Develop and use KPI’s to monitor performance and improve the business.
Develop internal production through efficiency improvements and refresh/extend capabilities.
Lead and support continuous improvement activity within the workshops and team to ensure that the APSYS requirements are met for the Shop Floor.
Ensure the effective control, development and continued use of all Operational based systems, e.g. SAP with its related packages and Time and Attendance.
Manage the Competency process for shop floor personnel.
Work with the Central UK and Global Industrial Engineering team on standardised ways of working, new processes and special projects.
Support the DFQ process.
Management of Work Packages associated with internally produced services/parts and internally based projects.
