Coleman James are pleased to be working with a Tier 1 contractor and recruiting for a Senior Planner in the Midlands. Working closely with the planning manager with the following responsibilities and experience;
Role/Responsibilities
- Site Based role working as an integral part of the site team understanding the day-to-day construction, being able to foresee any problem encounters and reinforce the understanding of how the project is being delivered in relation to the programme and where further details and changes become necessary.
- Promptly Incorporate contractual changes made by the client.
- Update the programme on a monthly basis to incorporate any Compensation events or client instructions that are relevant to the period update.
- Weekly presentation of the programme to the project team, record progress against planned activity on 4 weekly rolling lookahead.
- Produce monthly planning report demonstrating the progress made against the previous period of planned works and identify reasons associated where slippage has occurred.
- Report on any changes made to the programme logic or introduction of new activities or where activities are no longer applicable.
- Producing graphical representation and dashboards for percentages complete and other measurable metrics against base line.
Experience required
- Experience working a Construction Environment, such as on site as a site engineer and have a general overall understanding of Construction Methods
- Strong understanding of other disciplines that relate to civil engineering projects such as mechanical and electrical works, also temporary works when required
- Strong Understanding of Railway Infrastructure, previous works on asset management including station build and refurb is beneficial.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawing details and specifications, understand how the design & documentation process and how they link into the procurement and construction process.
- Ability to calculate and measure quantities, and use this information to inform activity durations.
- Have a generally inquisitive nature and dynamic approach, use this to understand how the critical path drives the completion date.
Competence requirements –
- Degree or Higher Technical Certificate (HNC or equivalent) qualification in a Construction Sector.
- Excellent IT skills and have some experience preparing programmes using software such as Excel, Microsoft Projects, Primavera OR Asta.
