My client is a joint venture working on HS2's package of works and they are looking for 4 Senior Quantity Surveyor's to join their team in Birmingham.
Quantity Surveyor Responsibilities:
- Ensure contract/job information is accurate and up to date
- The main purpose of the job is to maximise profit and minimise risk for the company by identifying and using commercial opportunities under contract.
- Produce details and information to support applications
- Possess strong commercial negotiation skills and experience of managing and leading a team to achieve multiple objectives
- Respond effectively to client requests and resolve problems promptly
- Monitor contract delivery/performance and address any internal issues
- Undertake accurate measurement of the works
- Review and validate contractor documentation taking action as required
- Prepare responses to clients and address any issues
- Assess contract progress to establish completed work
- Prepare and submit Applications and Invoices to customers
- Ensure internal invoices are raised against Applications paid
Senior Quantity Surveyor requirements:
- Worked in civils and/or infrastructure projects
- Change/Subcontract/Supplies/Direct L&P as well managing the Risk & Early Warning Register
- Knowledge of NEC Contracts, use of CEMAR / Risk Based Software (Corestream or Actium etc.)
- Holds the relevant qualifications (i.e. Quantity Surveying) ideally with corporate membership and qualified to CInstCES or similar
- Familiar with NEC Forms of contract and particularly Option C
- Have good working knowledge of business systems used in our Industry (e.g. Works Order, Application & Certification systems).
- Preparation of monthly cost / value reports, together with review of results and consideration of trends with other contract team members
- Awareness and experience of construction methods, technology, standard forms of measurement and forms of contract, and health and safety requirements
- High standards of written communication, verbal, computer, numerical and inductive (ability to deal with ambiguous data) reasoning
- Skilled in analysis and problem solving
- Able to take a structured and methodical approach to any task, identifying priorities and setting deadline
