Your new role
We are currently looking for Systems Technicians to join our team at the North Pole Train Maintenance Centre in West London! This is a permanent position working on a day and night shift roster.
The Systems Technician (ST) will be responsible for supporting all “IT” systems hardware and software required for the continuing performance of the Train Maintenance operations. This will include:
- Systems installed on the train such as train operating systems and on-board systems
- Engineering equipment installed in the depot and used in the maintenance and servicing of trains
- Business support systems including SAP
The ST will be the first line of our “IT” support function and will filter any operating issues with the above. The ST will work with HRE IT and third party providers, to install new business systems equipment and to ensure all systems are in working order. The ST manages the resolution of any system operating issues.
This includes installing new software releases on train operating systems, new software versions of depot equipment such as MRX, Wheel Lathe, Trainlink as well as the business systems equipment installed in Depot.
The Systems Technician will also act as the Super User providing advice and guidance to Depot Teams on the use of the SAP maintenance system. The ST in the Super User role, provides the conduit between business and IT and as well as being the go-to person on any SAP query, the Super User provides feedback on how the system is being used, its constraints, issues and the type of training needed for new or seasoned users. With this knowledge they participate in the development of new SAP functions and system enhancements with the overall objective of achieving greater end user acceptance and satisfaction.

- Technical systems experience (Required)
- Technical or IT support (Required)
- Rail systems experience (Desired)
- Engineering maintenance systems experience (Desired)
- SAP PM experience (Desired)
