Job Title:Team Leader - Paint
Responsible To:Production Manager
Department:Paintbox - E Shop & Annex
Location:Derby
Salary: Negotiable DOE + Benefits, Shift Uplft & Overtime
Job Purpose
To effectively lead your team to achieve Operational Requirements, meet Customer Specifications and Quality Standards in line with Standard Operating Practices. Build a strong team culture, striving for continuous improvement and supporting other departments within the Bombardier site.
Dimensions
Leading a team of employees and any temporary staff/labour to achieve daily targets in line with customer specification and Quality standards. Covering all aspects of employee relations including (but not exclusive to) absence management, investigations, health & safety, performance management, appraisals and training. During all your activities align your working style and behaviour to the Company value system as detailed below and in the Company Handbook.
Role of Department
The Paint department receives parts from Bombardier and prepares, paints and finishes all parts as well as other tasks throughout the site to meet the needs of the company and its client Bombardier.

To manage all resources effectively that are available to you to satisfy customer client and company demands
Ensure that Health and Safety, Quality and Environmental awareness is communicated and reported with regard to the shift
Ensure accuracy at all times of paperwork, information, KPI reports.
Reduce the amount of quality issues within your area of control and liaise with other departments to ensure that issues are communicated to the company.
Ensure that you feedback to your line Manager any problems or defects that continually occur with the product your team are handling.
Be flexible to support shifts or departments and carry out reasonable tasks as requested by your Line Manager or Management team in line with Department/Company objectives.
Ensure that any non-conforming items are viewed by the quality department and that the appropriate documentation is raised.
Manage efficiencies within your team to ensure targets are met
PeopleWork and communicate effectively with your colleagues to ensure daily target output is achieved. Team briefs to be held with team.
Manage attendance and timekeeping within your team, including back to work meetings and address any issues appropriately and in line with Company Policy.
Ensure that any Training records are kept up to date and that operators are trained using the Standard Operating Procedures
Always be punctual and reliable. To notify your Operations Manager if you are to be late or absent from work due to unforeseen circumstances. To follow Company notification procedures.
Attend a 4, 12, 26 week review of your role during your probationary period.
To carry out welcome to work and MBS meetings and carry out Tool box talks
Hold return to work meetings prior to any operator returning to their post after absence
Be flexible with working hours if requested by the management team in order to meet customer demand.
You will be expected to learn and develop additional skills to maximise a multi-skilled approach. Carry out an annual Training Needs Analysis process for yourself and your team.
Be professional in your attitude to the job and in the manner with which you conduct your duties. Always present a professional image when communicating internally and externally.
Be committed to your department and continually strive to achieve an excellent working relationship as a supportive team member.
Maintain professional and effective relationships with other functions.
Carry out fair and reasonable investigations where alleged breaches of Company Policy or Procedure may have occurred.
ProfitReview and manage any performance issues within your team.
Monitor and report rework issues
Monitor waste levels and ensure wastage of cost items are kept to a minimum.
Actively resolve quality issues, liaising with the Quality Department where needed.
Monitor and control overtime levels to ensure Working Time Directive requirements are met and costs are kept to a minimum.
Continually seek ideas for improving daily activities to reduce costs, improve uptime and quality. Communicate these ideas to your Production Manager.
Drive and support the requirements to up hold all accreditations
CommunityAudit the work area for your team, ensuring that all work areas are kept clean and tidy at all times. Adhere to and drive the standards of the 5s housekeeping audit, therefore minimising risk to products and employees.
Ensure that you understand and comply with Health & Safety at work Regulations at all times.
Report all accidents, potential near miss/risk situations and defective equipment using the agreed procedure and wear Company issued PPE without fail.
Key Performance Indicators
Delivery on time and in full - minimise/eliminate arrears.
Scrap below 1%.
Volume output per shift as per weekly target figures
Right First Time yield to be trending upwards. Minimum of 85%.
Maintain Quality Standards as per Customer Quality Specifications.
Absence (sickness) below 2%.
Manage labour (including temporary labour) and overtime costs to optimum levels.
Audit Accreditation.
Training Matrix Validation.
Weekly House-Keeping Audit.
