Ford & Stanley – The Rail Recruitment Experts are working with one of our UK based rail clients who are the leading provider of software products for rail operations and signalling. We are looking for a Technical Project Manager who will be required to deliver medium to large, medium to high risk, multi-disciplined projects that deliver change to existing products and implement new products according to the company roadmaps and strategy.
The Technical Project Manager role ensures the smooth start-up, day to day running and close-down of all allocated software projects. Tasked by and reporting to the Head of R&D the main responsibilities of the role holder include but not limited to:

Manage projects, to process, to agreed scope, from inception to completion

Ensure the delivery of quality products, within agreed time and budget

Compile and present timely project progress reports
-
Control and Manage project scope.

Allocate tasks to the available resource effectively and efficiently
-
Ensure staff and projects comply with the company quality and safety standards
-
Manage all stakeholders in the project.

Line management of staff
Responsibilities
Smooth running of the Technical projects will be indicated by performance on tasks such as
-
Represent our client on customer project review meetings
-
Work with customers and Head of R&D to ensure timely and cost effective execution of projects to meet commercial objectives
-
Compile timely project financial and progress reports as required
-
Frequent liaison with the Technical Authorities to ensure products are fit for purpose
-
Provide coaching and guidance for project teams throughout the project life cycle from conception through delivery to support
-
Provide input and/or approval to support costing and pricing for sales proposals
-
Assess and authorise product release ensuring compliance with requirements and readiness for delivery
-
Lead project team to deliver the required tasks on the plan.

Work with other departments to ensure the delivery of the project.

Ensure compliance of projects to the relevant quality, health & safety and environmental standards and our client’s BMS

Provide support to the Quality Manager in the implementation and maintenance of our client’s BMS
Qualifications & Experience
-
Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Project or Primavera project management software.

Prince2 or APM Qualified is highly desirable.

Excellent full project cycle management

Comprehensive Technical Background

Proven Technical Team leadership skills
-
Line management
-
3 year+ Project Management in a Technical Environment.

Adaptability to work at all levels within the project
