What is the purpose of this role?
To carry out repairs and inspections to customer plant and equipment on their sites in a timely and safe manner and in accordance with Amey policies and procedures and in accordance with the customers safety requirements.
What makes this role unique?
You will require a flexible approach to working hours to maximise machine availability. You will maintain the proactive delivery of preventative and reactive maintenance and repair to maximize plant availability and reliability.
What will this role involve?
- Ensure safe working practices at all times
- Complete all paperwork in a tidy and legible manner after each job has been completed
- Understanding of the Quality Assurance Policy
- Maintains a tidy and clean service van
- To ensure all tooling and equipment complies with legislation
- Report to and work under the direction of the Maintenance Manager.
- Adhere to applicable Maintenance Policy & Plans for the System Plant.
- Comply with the Maintenance Management System and planned maintenance of the system plant in accordance with maintenance programme and approved maintenance manuals/schedules.
- Maintain the proactive delivery of preventative and reactive maintenance and repair to maximize plant availability and reliability.
- Assist operator/maintainers to maximize performance, to ensure compliance with all relevant technical, quality, environmental & safety standards.
- Assist with investigation and reporting of faults, Identification of fault trends.
- Assist with monitoring and reporting on maintenance performance & machine reliability.
- Assist in developing modifications or improvements to maintenance processes and regimes to deliver performance and financial benefits.
- Assist with the development of apprentices.
What are we looking for?
Qualifications
- NVQ, City and Guilds or similar in Plant Mechanics
- Experience of maintenance of large plant or systems including pneumatic, hydraulic and electrical systems.
- Excellent planning and organisational capabilities.
- Previous engineering experience and experience in track renewals.
- Excellent communication and motivation skills essential.
- Knowledge of Health and Safety at Work Act
- PTS
- Able to drive (full UK license)
- Computer literate.

- Understanding of Customer Service
- Ability to diagnose faults as they occur
Experience
- Knowledge of the various industry regulations.
- Experience of on-track machine or other plant maintenance.
- Knowledge of relevant Health & Safety legislation.
- Sound professional engineering and IT skills.
