A major International contractor is offering the opportunity to join its Talent program as a Graduate Tunnelling Engineer in either of their Canadian offices (Toronto / Vancouver). this will be working with the Construction and Design of Tunnelling projects across North America and start a career path to exciting international opportunities within this specialist market.

They are seeking a well rounded, enthusiastic graduate engineer to learn from their expert teams who should ideally speak Italian (to be able to travel internationally and communicate with their head offices). The engineer will have the chance to experience the whole construction process, working with design, project preparation, construction supervision and finishing works. This will focus on TBM mechanised tunnelling but also experience earthworks, mechanical and electrical cooperation and civils so will expand knowledge and training.

The candidate must have a Civil Engineering (or similar degree) and an interest in tunnelling, geotechnics and/or underground construction. They will have experience in their qualifications or employment within this sector and looking to continue their career in this specialism. They MUST speak Italian to a basic level at least and be open to international travel.

The role can be based out of either location Toronto or Vancouver working with active projects and will offer future travel opportunities internationally.

Tunnelling engineering graduates will work on a range of duties including:

• Application of civil, structural and tunnelling knowledge gained throughout your degree
• Constructability & design coordination, through preliminary and detailed design; in particular the importance of safety and compliance
• Tunnel, shaft and underground construction in soft ground using a variety of construction method, predominantly TBM excavation
• Identifying and resolving complex engineering problems
• Once experienced you will have the chance to lead small teams or supervise crews on site
• Participation in client and project review meetings to experience client interface and the ability to develop/maintain business

Minimum Requirements

• A BSc/MEng/MSc degree in Civil or Civil & Structural Engineering or Geotechnical or Mining Engineering
• Willing and able to work towards a professional qualification (PE, Chartered Engineer)
• Demonstrable interest in tunnelling projects and knowledge of construction methodology
• Communicate effectively both verbally & in writing and able to write reports accurately
• Minimum basic level of Italian language
