Graduate Engineer - Technical Meetings

Job Description
The ETCS Freight project includes 8 Railway undertakings (operators) and circa 20 classes of locomotive each of which have variation within the fleets. The role of MBRC in this project centres on a co-ordination and support role ensuring that agreement is reached and operators who normally are competitors, reach agreement on designs across all parties.
The initial role is to take technical minutes and actions, at meetings which cover the following topics
• Engineering Stakeholder Progress meetings with 8 Railway Undertakings, Siemens, and Network Rail
• Freight only Meetings to discuss the performance of the project and technical issues
• Documentation specific meetings to review project spanning documentation applicable to all operators
• Cyber Security specific meetings to review the cyber elements of the project with specialist contractors and operators cyber/IT staff.
This offers an excellent opportunity to learn the interactions of the various facets of the project and the interactions between stakeholders.
As the role will have experienced various areas of the project there will be an opportunity to grow into any of the following areas (in addition to the initial duties):
• Assisting the MBRC Project Engineers with verifying the applicability of quoted standards and performing diligence checks on the closeout of issues.
• Representing MBRC and the Engineering Group one or more of the following:
o Training Meetings
o Cyber security and key management Meetings
o Design House Meetings
o Fitment sites
Location
The normal working location will be Edinburgh with the potential for site visits and meeting attendance throughout the UK as the project progresses. The candidate should be willing to travel within the UK including overnight stays during the week where required.
Home working is supported where deemed appropriate by agreement between you and your line manager.
Requirements
The candidate must be qualified at 2:1 or greater in a stem field, preferably mechanical, electrical, or electronic engineering.
The successful candidate must have experience with:
• Writing Technical Documentation (reports)
• Grasping technical topics
• Learning both under direction and self-study.
In addition, the following traits are required:
• Excellent work ethic
• Self-motivating
• A drive for continuous professional development
• Lateral and creative thinking
• Capable of working unsupervised
Annual Leave
• 35 days annual leave including bank holidays 2 weeks shutdown for Christmas
