Job description

Effective project controls are critical to achieving successful project and programme outcomes i.e., delivering required benefits to cost, time, and performance.

Project Controls covers a wide range of essential support services to enable project success including planning; risk management; information management and reporting.

Working in Project Controls requires excellent communication skills as you become the trusted advisor to the Project Management, Engineering and Commercial Management teams to provide them analysis and input on the impact that the decisions they may wish to take have on the desired project outcomes.

Project Controls requires a keen analytical and proactive mind to make sure information provided to others is based on logical data gathering and data management.

Project Controls provide the ability to know where we are today with regards to project delivery but also using analytical and forecasting processes to predict where the project will be in the future using information formats that are effective in aiding others to make management decisions.

What does the Project Controls Engineer Graduate role look like?

Joining as a graduate project control engineer provides a fantastic opportunity to develop a broad range of skills as at Egis we believe our success comes from having multi skilled and adaptable resources.

Our project controls teamwork across all aspects of Egis Transport Solutions business and more broadly into the Egis Group global businesses.

This variety means you may be working on a range of projects or internal business improvement activities across a range or business areas.

Your graduate journey will start in one of our core functions of either planning, risk management, reporting or information management.

Within this function you’ll be allocated a line manager to provide day to day direction and support with a connection to a technical mentor who will help upskill you with some of the specialist applications that our team use like the Oracle Primavera Planning tool.

You will be expected to be a keen communicator and a proactive learner as the field of project controls continues to evolve as digital innovation continues to be adopted to help projects achieve delivery success. This evolution is exciting, and you’ll be supported to innovate and learn.

Over the course of your graduate journey, you’ll be rotated through all the core functions of project controls to make sure you have that common understanding to be able to help our clients succeed by providing balance, informed and expert advice.

You will receive intensive training so that you start to understand the railway in the UK, whilst also developing a personal development plan with your line manager.

To gain the most out of your development opportunity you’ll be required to travel and visit our current project locations so you can observe various stages of the project lifecycle and meeting our team.
