My client who have formed an alliance are looking to hire a CDM Safety Engineer to join their team in Manchester.

Position Overview

1. Provide support to the Project CEMs and DPEs for ensuring that CDM-D Duty Holder responsibilities have been adequately discharged
2. Ensure the CREs and the design team are applying the Principles of Prevention and adopting the philosophy of the Hierarchy of Risk Control to eliminate hazards in preference to control measures and less reliable forms of mitigation
3. Working collaboratively with CREs and Project Engineers, provide technical advice and challenge to ensure that all relevant hazards have been identified in design documentation (and in the Hazard register) and mitigation employed to manage accordingly.
4. Manage the CDM Hazard Register on behalf of the Project CEM
5. Provide support to the CEM in preparation of evidence and performance data for KPI reporting and any audits/ reviews that have been agreed.

Key Skills

Essential:-
1. Incorporated Engineer with appropriate HNC / HND level educational qualifications
2. Experience of major multi-disciplinary rail infrastructure projects and the design processes
3. Significant experience in applying CDM principles
4. Experience in Collaborative working arrangements
5. Formal qualifications and/ or training in safety risk assessments, and undertaking HAZIDs

Desired:-
6. Nebosh Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety Management or working towards

Organise and document Hazids, risk assessments and reviews on behalf of the Project CEM to ensure that hazards are identified, and mitigation proposed and recorded in appropriate design documentation and hazard registers

Manage the CDM Hazard Register on behalf of the Project CEM, including transfers of hazards (and safety critical/ related information) to other CDM Duty Holders, and between CSM and CDM registers/ records as appropriate

R

Responsible for close out of CDM Hazard Register for relevant design packages prior to submission for approval/ assurance and to issue AFC.

Prepare evidence on behalf of the Project CEM, to support performance data for KPI reporting and any audits/ reviews that have been agreed.

Support the Project CEM in preparation for any audits and reviews on the design of the project, particularly for compliance on matters of CDM and/ or Health, Safety and Wellbeing.

Support assigned project team with wider improvement initiatives, including lessons learnt and best practise
