Samuel Knight International are pleased to have been engaged by our client, a leading train operating company, to provide recruitment services for a "Head of Safety" , that will be based in Peterborough, Cambridgeshire.

As the Head of Safety, you will be providing full advisory services in the area of Health, Safety, Environment and Quality. You will ensure that across the company compliance is met with regard to legislation, rules, industry standards and regulations - across this scope, you will work on external and internal standards.

At the heart of this role is improving the conciousness of the company with regards to Safety at work.

It will naturally be important for the successful candidate to stay ahead of the curve with regards to changes in safety regulations and legislation, to ensure our client is always compliant.

In terms of daily responsibilities, the successful candidate will:

• Be the leader of a HSEQ team, ensuring the delivery of relevant strategy
• Be collaborative with other heads of department to ensure buy-in across the business
• Be the authority on identification of issues and risk assessment
• Deliver the industry best standard with regards to safety related data centres
• Ensure all parties have the necessary advice and expertise to deliver any changes to the clients operations with regards to safety
• Be comfortable working with directors, senior management and other stake holders

The successful candidate will hold the following qualifications for this role:

• Time served experience in a similar role - ideally in a national sized company
• An industry recognised qualification (NEBOSH or NVQ)
• Ability to deliver and influence senior managers, directors and stakeholders
• Very good technical knowledge of relevant HSEQ legislation
