We’re looking for a Health Safety & Environment Advisor for a 9-month contract role with Network Rail based in Chadwell Heath, East London. This role may require occasional weekend hours with time off in lieu.

As a Health Safety & Environment Advisor, you will:

• Provide support, coaching and guidance to the Operations and Maintenance Delivery teams for issues of workforce health, safety and environment.
• Provide support to the in the collation of workforce health, safety and environment data.
• Monitor and analyse workforce health, safety and environment data for trends, produce reports and make recommendations for corrective actions.
• Identify health, safety & environmental key risks and make recommendations for control measures.
• Support the implementation of national and local programmes and initiatives to improve workforce health, safety and environmental control.
• Facilitate the Operations and Maintenance Delivery teams in their relationships via local safety forums/groups with Trade Union Safety Representatives and external safety and environmental bodies.
• Provide guidance to the Operations and Maintenance Delivery teams in the investigation and reporting of accidents and incidents and the Formal Investigation Process.
• Facilitate arrangements for safety and environmental audits.
• Coordinate and monitor safety tours and staff surveillance for the team.
• Undertake a sample check each period of safe system of work plans to monitor compliance with the Safe System of Work Planning Arrangements. Take action to address issues as identified.
• Take an active role in developing the Operations and Maintenance Delivery teams in matters of workforce health, safety and the environment

You will have:

• A relevant HSE qualification (NEBOSH or IOSH).
• Previous experience in H&S planning, reporting and assurance.
• Experience of reporting to clients
• Accident investigation experience.
• Line Management experience (ideally).
• Experience working as part of a project team on major projects.
• Experience of PC (Principal Contractor) licence requirements.
• Experience conducting site assurance and site visit and audits.
• CDM knowledge
• PTS
