Health & Safety Advisor
Purpose of the Job
The Health & Safety Advisor will be working with the Head of Safety to provide competent health & safety and environmental management advice and guidance to the Operations team to support successful mobilisation as the Infrastructure Manager.
Monitoring and directing effort to ensure that maintenance, operations and engineering are provided with the requisite safety resources, and that the oncoming peak in safety-related activities is managed appropriately.
Principal Accountabilities
- Liaise with RFLI’s Head of Safety to provide direction and support and guidance to the operations, maintenance and engineering department of RFLI.
- Manage the assessment of risk and the control of hazards associated with the change in design of the Central Operating Section to support the Earliest Opening Programme (EOP).
- Provide support and guidance in preparing RFLI as the Infrastructure Manager to be able to accept handover of the elements and to safely operate and maintain the infrastructure.
- Visit the construction sites prior to handover to assess any residual hazards that need to be considered as part of RFLI’s on-going operations.
- Support the RFLI review of Station, Shaft, Portal and Routeway Safety Files. This includes the preparation of comments for the company, and the production of RFLI reports on the acceptability of the Safety File evidence in support of the CIAC process.
- Undertake analysis of data and trending across all key stakeholders to provide the Executive Board with an end-to-end view of safety performance across the entirety of the Elizabeth Line.
- Provide input into RFLI Safety Justification documents supporting:
- Entry into ROGS and the periods of Trial Running and Trial Operations.
- Revenue Service.
- Build relationships with key stakeholders, strengthening support across the Elizabeth Line in order that lessons learned, and areas of best practise can be shared across the industry.
- Take reasonable care of your own and others’ health and safety and of those who may be affected in the day-to-day delivery of this role by taking personal responsibility for working to Target Zero principles.
- Co-operate in all matters relating to health and safety, including following safe working procedures at all times.
- Act as a role model for vision and values, behaving in ways that are in alignment with Ways of Working. Encourage and support others to do so too.
