Health & Safety Advisor in United Kingdom
Safety is at the heart of what we do here and we have maintained great credibility both on and off track. We are looking for an experienced Health and Safety professional who shares our passion to join our growing team.
The successful candidate will take a hands-on approach in supporting and promoting the health and safety of all works across our rail, forestry, environmental, OTP, rail civils and professional services teams.
This role will be varied and extremely rewarding as you will have opportunity to contribute new ideas and suggestions to further the development of Health and Safety across the business.
Our Health and Safety department provide a proactive approach to Health and Safety and work closely in the delivery of all work within the business. You also will be expected to travel to multiple locations throughout the week to ensure compliance, undertake audits, engage with the site teams and review working practices on site.
Responsibilities for the Health and Safety Advisor will include:
• Implementing health and safety policies and procedures on site, ensuring compliance and keeping updated with key changes to legislation
• Production of legal documentation, such as Construction Phase Plans, risk assessments etc
• Visiting site and engaging with site teams and managers, ensuring responsibilities are clear and answering technical Health and Safety related enquires
• Conducting audits, inspections, and accident investigations
• Engaging with the client and other external stakeholders
The successful Health and Safety Advisor will have:
• Proven experience in a similar role within the rail industry
• A NEBOSH General certificate as a minimum or NCRQ Equivalent Certificate
• CSCS and PTS
• Minimum of TECH IOSH status
• Be a people-focussed individual who is passionate about safety culture and behaviours
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Experience of working to and auditing ISO standards including <phone number removed> and 45001
• Works collaboratively and builds effective working relationships
• Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities
• A strong technical knowledge across relevant health and safety legislation, compliance and regulations
