Title: Field Service/Manchester EHS role
Based: Home based but travel to field services at our Manchester site and also Melksham for holiday cover
Salary: £50,000
Car Allowance: £6,000
Purpose of position:
Responsible for implementing and driving the Health, Safety and Environmental management system for the Field Service function & the Manchester site, following the UK EHS lead
Training / education:
- Higher National Degree / Degree, preferably in an Engineering discipline
- NEBOSH Certificate (or higher)
- Trained auditor – preferably Lead Auditor
- Proficient in Microsoft software
- EHS training or knowledge of Rail Industry an advantage
Professional experience and / or qualifications:
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to write and interpret RAMS
- Confident & able to conduct suitable and sufficient risk assessments for complex situations
- Creating a positive safety culture within the teams
- Ability and aptitude to interpret complex customer requirements and implement necessary processes for safe operation
- Strategic, methodical, and logical approach to work
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to communicate professionally in both verbal and written contexts to a wide and varied audience.
- Ability to influence peer group and management groups
- Strong visual awareness (hazard spotting skills)

- Strong process capabilities, must have a high attention to detail.

- Must adopt a positive attitude and have a coaching management style.
- Regular customer interfaces & ability to travel to customer locations
Main responsibilities / duties:
- Responsible for managing the Environment, Health and Safety aspects for all Field Service Train Brakes, Doors and HVAC service solutions, plus EHS advisor for the Manchester site:
- Provide technical expertise, strategic leadership, and support for all EHS management systems for the Field Service function.
- Be the nominated EHS site lead for Manchester, assisting and advising the local team as required in applying UK or Group policy around EHS matters while helping the Site Leader improve safety
- Ensure compliance of personnel and processes to all relevant industry standards, as well as specific site requirements, for Field Services
- Develop an overall strategy to create and sustain a culture of continuous improvement.
- On a monthly basis, prepare and present to the Field Service team a management system review that includes measures of Key Performance Indicators, Customer satisfaction and management system effectiveness.
- Ensure compliance with industry, national & international standards
- To create and maintain a Field Service site Safety, Health & Environmental Management Improvement plan in conjunction with Senior H&S Managers to ensure it delivers as a minimum legal compliance.
- Stopping dangerous practices where there is imminent risk of injury or damage.
- To facilitate the reporting & investigation of all near misses, accidents, damage incidents, dangerous occurrences, and fire incidents as the primary investigator for Field Services and Manchester
- Reporting to the UK EHS Manager and based either at home or at the Manchester site with a willingness to travel to customer locations as required. Also willingness to travel to Melksham as required to assist in specific work such as audits, legal compliance reviews or specific EHS work as required
