Health & Safety Contractor Manager
Location: Tyseley, B11 2HJ
Salary: Competitive
About the Company:
We are looking to recruit a Health & Safety Contractor Manager to support our programme of change within Depots within our Projects function to work closely with key stakeholders within West Midlands Trains. You will manage the safe integration of contractor activities at Tyseley Depot carrying out a major enhancement project, alongside the normal day to day activities of a working traincrew depot.
Health & Safety Contractor Manager Responsibilities:
- Reviewing Contractor Risk Assessment Method Statements (RAMs), ensuring compliance with RAMS, OCC 007 and local processes by depot staff and contractors.
- Liaise with the Depot Management Team to ensure full understanding of on-site activities and highlight/mitigate risks.
- Create a focus/culture of safe working
- Set up processes to ensure regular compliance checks
- Inspect works sites, raise any relevant safety issues and provide resolutions
- Investigate and review all safety related incidents, accidents, defects and other pertinent events that occur in the contractors’ work areas to ensure future safe operation and learn from incidents.
- Investigate and report back on all process non-compliance issues
- Review induction and briefing process to ensure appropriateness and on an ongoing basis.
- Manage practical induction and briefing process with all contractors entering site.
- Work with Contractors and Depot Management Team to ensure co-ordination and agreement when setting up access routes and site demarcation for contractors.
- Compile periodic reports and depot brief demonstrating the current programme of works in readiness for the new fleet.
- Produce weekly/monthly/quarterly reports to communicate project status both internally and externally.
- Highlight any relevant issues to the WMT Facilities team that may affect future maintenance regimes; including instructions; procedures and associated documents
- To provide engineering support to the Depot Manager (DM) and Project Manager (PM) before, during and following contractor site attendance
- Develop relationship with contractors to ensure lessons learnt are incorporated into future contractor RAMs.
- Any other duties commensurate with the grade and post and as required in support of contractor on site arrangement.
Health & Safety Contractor Manager Requirements:
- Ability to identify problems and build relationships
- Communicating with industry partners in a language and style that they are comfortable with
- Ability to influence stakeholders to encourage active support and mitigate resistance to project objectives
- Ability to escalate issue where appropriate
- Experience of conflict resolution and positive negotiation
- Experience of work on other Traincrew Depots (Desirable)
- Previous experience of working with contractors within a railway environment (Desirable)
- Display strong management skills understanding the wider objectives of the project and business (Desirable)
