Health and Safety Advisor
Salary - £35-45,000 per annum plus additional benefits
Location - Birmingham
My client are currently recruiting for a Health and Safety Advisor to join their ever growing team. This is working on a flag ship infrastructure project in Birmingham for a tier 1 contractor offering exposure to massive projects as well as a fast tracked career progression.
Health and Safety Advisor Responsibilities:
- Understand the Company Health & Safety and Environmental Policies and Procedures and statutory requirements as they affect the Project operations and ensure that the requirements are implemented
- Assist the HSQE Team to ensure all Policies and Procedures are kept relevant and up to date
- Provide operational and functional management with advice on the prevention of accidents, ill health, environmental incidents and the practical implementation of the company’s HSQE policies
- Assist the Operational managers including the regional operational Director in preparing and developing Project Health, Safety and Environmental Management Plans & coordinator reviews
- Undertake site HSQE inspections as required
- Participate as requested in “Company” HSQE Audit and inspections
- Advise on the assessment and appointment of sub-contractors
- Assist where necessary with tenders and presentations to external bodies
- When requested, advise on the preparation of HSQE risk assessments and Method Statements
- Assist in the investigation of accidents, incidents, dangerous occurrences, near misses and other incidents where appropriate. Monitor and coordinate the close out of the above
- Assist in the preparation and implementation of HSQE training courses. Organize and deliver relevant HSQE Training where required
- Set standards and lead by example in the management of HSQE
- Maintain own level of knowledge and competency in relation to HSQE management and responsibilities including appropriate qualification and professional membership
REQUIREMENTS:
- Worked in H&S Advisor positions previously
- Extensive experience in a HSE role within the infrastructure and/or construction sector
- NEBOSH or General Certificate
- Ability to work with IT and demonstrate competency in Office 365 skills
- Good presenter and communicator, both with the workforce and Managers or Directors
- Ability to work under own initiative and achieve targets set in a timely and prompt manner
- Ability to demonstrate where you have managed client relationships and influenced both the supply chain and other delivery partners
