The market leading infrastructure recruitment specialists are supporting a leading international Engineering Firm who are requiring an Independent Safety Assessor for Large infrastructure projects in Toronto
Responsibilities:
Follow the phases and stages of the CENELEC EN 50126 project lifecycle:
- Concept and system definitions
- Risk analysis
- Systems requirements & apportionment
- Preliminary and detailed design
- Manufacture & installation
- System validation and system acceptance (inc. handover & trial operations); and
- Operations and Maintenance (O&M)
Provide independent assessments in compliance with global and regional railway safety standards:
- CMREA (Canadian for Risk Evaluation and Assessment)
- CENELEC standards EN 5012x
- Common Safety Method (CSM) (402/2013)
- Functional Safety IEC 61508
- National rules and regulations
- Railway standards directly relevant to electrical, mechanical systems and civils structures for specific products and railway sub-systems
Provide system safety assessment covering the entire technical spectrum of a complete railway project, including:
- Track civil infrastructure and structural engineering (i.e. stations, tunnels and viaducts, earthworks)
- Mechanical & electrical engineering (i.e. Earthing & Lightning protection and EMC)
- Railway systems (i.e. telecommunications and SCADA)
- Signalling systems (i.e. generic and specific signalling applications according to EN and IEC standards)
- Traction & rolling stock
- Power supply and distribution (inc. overhead line electrification and third rail traction power)
- Testing & commissioning
- Operations and maintenance
- Fire protection, emergency, and rescue concepts (including railway stations, tunnels and vehicles)
- Management processes, for example:
- Quality management and quality control (inc. lead assessor and lead audit)
- Risk management
- Safety and RAM engineering
- System integration and interface management (i.e. System/System and System/Civil Works, etc.)
- Verification and validation
- Change control and configuration management
Key requirements for the role:
- Able to move to Toronto
- Minimum 10 years' experience as Independent Safety Assessor
- Software / Systems / Electrical / Mechanical / Civil Engineer with a holistic, systemic view of the projects.
- A minimum of 15 years of experience with RAMS on large scale Rail/Metro projects with Civil, MEP and System background.
- Have a holistic approach for the design and assessment of railway projects
- Extensive knowledge about processes and requirements in EN 50126.
- Extensive knowledge of the CMREA (Canadian Method for Risk Evaluation and Assessment).
- Extensive knowledge of the CSM (Common Safety Method).
- Able to work in a multicultural, international environment.
- Fluent in English
Recommended:
- Knowledge of Item Toolkit for Fault Tree Analyses
- CFSE / CPSE certification
- INCOSE SEP certification
- Experience with methods for inspections and auditing of suppliers (UNE-EN ISO/IEC 17020).
