About The Role
We currently have a unique opportunity for an experienced individual to join the business as the Head of Health & Safety for our Rail division.
The successful candidate will oversee and manage the Health and Safety, reporting directly to the Managing Director of Rail. Undertaking investigations of accidents and near misses, you will identify hazards and measures to prevent recurrence and continually improve safety performance. Ensuring through effective management that investigations are transparent and fair, you will confidently make suitable recommendations where necessary to ensure future prevention.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
As part of your day to day role, you are responsible for the following:
- Leading by controlling, directing, and managing safety assurance and compliance.
- Enabling continuous improvement in rail operational safety performance.
- Maintaining an ongoing awareness of Safety and Health legislation and proposed legislation, codes of practice, and activity in the Safety and Health at all times.
- Influencing management and employees regarding all Health, Safety and Environmental issues and risks, whilst overseeing the production and delivery of site briefing material
- Fostering strong relationships, communicating confidently with our leading clients on changes within Linbrooke Services and liaising with Operations Managers to ensure that inductions, training, and appropriate information is given to relevant employees and contractors
- Providing guidance to operations, helping in the preparation of contract-specific Work Plans and Task Briefings
- Developing Risk Assessments to identify and advise on adequate control measures to ensure identified risks are brought down to an acceptable level.
- Working collaboratively with the company’s Environment Manager and Business Systems Manager.
The above list is not exhaustive, and you will occasionally be asked to undertake additional duties where it is reasonable and appropriate.
Essential Attributes & Skills
- Chartered Member of IOSH (CMIOSH)
- 5 years of rail experience
- Demonstrable experience of client issues
- Knowledge of key systems including RISQS, Sentinel, SWP and ISO management systems

Monday to Friday, Office based position.
