Health & Safety Advisor - Rail - Permanent
Location: Based in Manchester with work on national projects required

To ensure that we can successfully deliver future works, and following recent tender awards, we are now looking to expand our Rail team and have a requirement for a SHEQ Advisor (Rail).
As a Health and Safety Advisor you would be supporting our construction and project managers ensuring that works on site are planned, set up and managed safely, efficiently and to a high standard.
Initially the role would be based from our Manchester office and you would deliver national projects.

Key attributes required for this role are:
• Act as the go-to Safety expert within the Rail division, with support from the SHEQ Manager.
• Carry out regular inspections of sites and work places to determine whether work is being carried out in accordance with Company Policy, Procedures and the relevant Statutory Provisions.
• Carry out accident/incident investigations in accordance with the Company procedure and, analysing all data, establishing root causes and making recommendations to avoid any reoccurrences.
• Support management teams to ensure compliance with all requirements stipulated in the Safe Systems of Work, CPP, WPP and Task Briefs
• Undertake Safety, Health, Quality & Environmental briefings and training including inductions.
• Proactive in maintaining a Safe Culture and awareness through innovative ideas and best safety practice
• Provide HSE advice and guidance as and when required to the Company and its sub-contractors.
• Experience of developing HSE risk assessments in operational railway, construction and project delivery environments.
• Effective working knowledge of the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015
• Assist the SHEQ Department with the maintenance of all aspects of the company’s Integrated Management System (IMS) in accordance with ISO 9001, ISO14001 and ISO 18001/45001 scopes.
• Some experience of RISQS auditing.
• Excellent client facing skills.
Minimum qualifications:
• NEBOSH certificate in Occupational Health & Safety
• Tech IOSH
• PTS (essential).
• CSCS card
• At least two years’ experience working in the Rail sector.
• Membership of IEMA (desirable)
• Competent in use of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
Physical requirements:
Due to the nature of works, there will be a requirement to work some nights and weekends as required by planned programmed works, and lodging away may be required. A UK driving licence is essential.
