I am currently searching for a contracting Rail Safety consultant tr join a large design consultancy in the midlands working on the HS2 project and the Transpennine route upgrade.
You will be working on the HS2 project covering Birmingham interchange station phase 2n and 2a. In addition to HS2. You will also provide the safety services on the Transpennine project- west of Leeds, major depot remodelling, Crossrail 2, Euston station B2 (NR Grip 3) AND Red sea crossing, Grip 4-8 detailed design commissions for major railway infrastructure contractors.
Role:
Ensuring the successful delivery of technically excellent multidisciplinary rail projects across our HS2 Rail portfolio, you will be responsible for, and typical activities will include:
-Ensuring that health and wellbeing, like safety, is given equal priority throughout the projects, when informing design, project and leadership decisions;
-Delivering the project Health, Safety and Wellbeing Induction, bespoke project training and risk assessment briefings to site operatives;
-Developing a full understanding of HS2 Ltd H&S Strategy, H&S Scope, Occupational Health Scope and Supply Chain H&S Standards;
-Producing risk assessments for survey activities, utilising specialist expertise from within Arup and the supply chain, covering tasks including rope access, excavations, access to water bodies / water courses, nocturnal surveys, work in building / structures (in-use and derelict), work in areas of contaminated land and tasks with public interfaces;
-Management of the supply chain, including supply chain briefings, audits, safety management system reviews and confirmation of capability (i.e. competencies for safety critical activities);
-Reporting of accidents, incidents and near misses, including those relating to occupational health and wellbeing;
-Lead accident, incident and near miss investigations ensuring that all issues are suitably actioned and communicated to the project team;
-Production of communications, safety alerts and initiates relating to health, safety and wellbeing
- Collation of data to inform Key Performance Indicators and reporting to project leadership, the client and other stakeholders;
-Undertaking project health, safety and wellbeing audits, using existing audit protocols and devising bespoke protocols where the need is identified.
Qualifications:
Ideally educated to degree level in a relevant discipline (safety, engineering, occupational psychology, occupational health etc);
Membership of relevant professional institution (such as IOSH, ICE, IStructE, etc);
