Safety Engineering Manager in Bristol, United Kingdom
I am looking for junior to mid-seniority Engineering Consultants to join a busy rail safety team.
You’ll find yourself working on a range of projects, providing specialist systems and safety engineering expertise to projects across the railway business.
This can range from working with client organisations to help them to develop safety assurance deliverables, through to working to providing safety support for major railway developments world-wide. You can expect variety and travel, visiting UK client site as well as the potential for world-wide travel.
The role
Working closely with the senior members of our Safety Engineering Team you will support a variety of technical project delivery tasks and client support activities, including:
- Working through the engineering design lifecycle to plan and execute programs of safety analysis
- Working with client development teams to help them through safety approvals processes
- Producing engineering plans and processes for the ‘safety piece’ - requirements management, systems acceptance, interface management, systems integration, assurance and RAMS (Reliability, Availability, Maintainability and Safety)
- Producing and checking safety assurance documentation
- Participating in integration testing and acceptance activities on site
- Assisting in the preparation of commercial bids and tenders
- Building strong relationships with rail clients
Qualifications & experience
- A university engineering degree in an engineering mathematics or science discipline and with some experience in engineering, ideally in a railway environment.
- Ideally, an active member of the IET and either a C Eng registration or be working towards this
- Either (or ideally both)
- Recent experience with railway engineering projects, including some contribution to safety assurance documentation, or
- Recent experience of Engineering Safety Management work, inside or outside rail, but with an interest in
Some familiarity (or a strong interest in gaining it) with engineering safety management practice, ideally having worked within ESM projects
You’ll need to be an excellent Engineer / Consultant with a keen interest in developing a strong career in engineering safety management, and a willingness to work in a variety of locations.
