You need to be enthusiastic in the subject of human factors / ergonomics and the benefits it can bring. You should be proactive, eager to acquire new skills and willing to learn from others.

An aptitude for understanding multidimensional problems, and complex products, systems and development processes is essential.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide technical expertise in human factors to resolve issues during projects
• Work closely with engineering teams to promote a good understanding of human factors capabilities throughout design, development, and implementation.
• Build good working relationships with equivalent human factors staff in external parties.
• Participate in the formal reviews of project or product documentation, as required by the company process.
• Deliver high quality deliverables as required to record human factors activities and provide evidence of compliance with Siemens human factors processes and client standards.

QUALIFICATIONS

• HNC, HND, Degree or equivalent in Psychology, Ergonomics, Human Factors, or a related discipline.

• Experience of working in large, multi-discipline teams.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills and the ability to produce high quality documentation to tight timescales.
• A willingness to work towards Registered Membership of the CIEHF.
• 5+ years’ experience of application of anthropometric data with Sammie CAD or equivalent Ergonomic assessment tool.

DESIRABLE ATTRIBUTES

• Experience working in a safety critical industry, preferably Rail.
• Experience of supervising other engineers.
• Competence in the use of Microsoft Office packages (WORD, EXCEL, POWERPOINT etc).
