Director of Technology - Rail Systems in Taiwan
A well known international engineering & manufacturing company is searching for a Director of Technology Management - ASIA who thrives in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate is comfortable performing a wide range of tasks from administrative to strategic. The position is based in Taipei, Taiwan reporting to the Head of Bidding & Delivery Asia. 
 
 About the Position: 
 
 The Technology Management Director in the Railways System requires a combination of technical expertise, project management skills, technical resource management and strong interpersonal communication abilities. The person will play a crucial role in ensuring the successful design and interface (between technical sub-systems) management and implementation of complex projects, Signalling related and/or E&M turnkeys within the Asia region. 
 
 Accountabilities: 
 
 * Planning and coordinating multi-disciplinary design teams: This includes setting project goals, defining timelines and budgets, allocating resources, and ensuring that all team members are working towards the same objectives. 
 * Liaison and interaction with central engineering function departments: This includes technical trouble shooting, engineering budgeting and managing resource coordination and prioritization. 
 * Managing multiple projects simultaneously: Design Services Managers often oversee several projects at once, requiring excellent organization and prioritization skills. 
 * Monitoring and reporting project progress: Keeping stakeholders informed about progress, milestones achieved, and potential challenges is crucial. 
 * Managing project technical risks and contingencies: Proactively identifying and mitigating potential risks, and having contingency plans in place for unforeseen circumstances. 
 * Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients: Understanding client needs and ensuring that designs meet their expectations is critical. 
 * Communicating project progress and challenges to clients clearly and concisely: Building trust and keeping clients informed is essential for successful project completion. 
 * Negotiating technical aspects of contracts and agreements: This may involve negotiating project scope, fees, and timelines. 
 
 Required Skills/ Knowledge: 
 
 * Deep understanding of railway systems: This includes the various subsystems such as train control, signalling, communications, power supply, and track infrastructure. 
 * Staying up-to-date with industry standards and regulations: The railway industry is constantly evolving, so the Design Services Manager must be aware of the latest changes and ensure that designs comply. 
 * Ability to interpret complex technical specifications and translate them into practical design solutions: Communication between engineers and other stakeholders is key. 
 * Troubleshooting technical problems and providing solutions: When issues arise, the Design Services Manager will be responsible for finding solutions and ensuring project progress continues. 
 * Contributing to business development efforts: Identifying new project opportunities and securing funding. 
 * Staying abreast of new technologies and innovations in the railway industry: Continuously seeking ways to improve design and efficiency. 
 
 
 Required Experience: 10-15 years in a similar business market 
 
 Education qualifications preferred: any Engineering Bachelor or Masters degree
