The Role

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Lead Driller to join our Piling & Ground Investigations business.

Reporting to the Construction Manager you will be responsible for the safe delivery of ground investigation techniques in line with the agreed specification on a variety of multi-discipline construction sites.

You will also be responsible for the team involved in ground investigation works ensuring compliance with statutory, industry and company standards, meeting safety requirements and programme milestones.

Key accountabilities

The key duties of this role will be to:

• All pre-use checks for plant and materials prior to delivery to site
• Safe delivery of all plant/machinery and ancillaries to site to carry out the GI works
• Management of the safe operation of the GI rigs
• Recording of all sample data whilst carrying out various sampling techniques as per the specification
• Correct logging and preparing for transportation of all soil samples recovered whilst carrying out ground investigation as per the specification

Skill & Experience

The candidate will also ideally have the following experience/skill set:

Significant and demonstrable experience in a ground investigation sampling role within the UK rail industry together with NVQ Level 2 in Drilling operations and CSCS Land Drilling card are essential requirements for this role. You will possess a proactive and responsible attitude with a high level of safety awareness. Successful candidates will be expected to have a flexible approach to work and be willing to work nights, weekends and lodge away from home as required.
