General Description:
To provide a Production Engineering service, developing and implementing process changes on major contracts to reduce labour costs, improve productivity and profitability performance improvements. To recommend, new simplified and standardized processes, machine tools and equipment in order to reduce costs. To play an active role in the development of team working and to act as an agent for change. This would be a leading role and the successful candidate would be expected to deputize for the production engineering manager where required. Ensure delivery of a safe and compliant solution in line with agreed UK rail standards and within QCD targets.

Responsibilities:
• To provide Production engineering services, develop and implement processes in support of operations.
• To take a leading role in the mobilization of new projects from Gate 1 handover from commercial.
• Provide/recommend tooling, equipment and facilities to improve the production process.
• Review of material and process flows and task sequencing and standard work sheets.
• Dynamic follow-through of change to ensure that it is implemented and maintained.
• To carry our risk assessments on new and existing processes using techniques such as FMEA.
• To compile material requirements, route cards and process sheets to ensure compliance to customers’ quality standards and achievement of budgeted profitability.
• To prepare and manage the implementation of minor capital expenditure schemes.
• Control, review and update all relevant documentation within the process, adhering to relevant standards.
• To provide an estimating assistance for the commercial team on new bids
• Carry out process assessment /improvements to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
• To assist the undertaking of make v buy assessments
• To support team leaders on reduction of NVA.

Education Requirements
• HNC/HND in the relevant mechanical discipline associated with Production Engineering
• Experienced with Industrial Engineering techniques such as method study, Estimating
