Lead Project Engineer - Civils

Location: Chippenham

Rate: £450 per day – rate flexible depending on experience

Term: 6 months initially

They are looking for a Lead Project Engineer to support the Lead Project Engineer Manager to deliver the Civil Engineering Designs on their lineside Signalling Projects.

You will manage information flow and coordinate the work of the site investigation sub-contractors and design sub-consultants to help deliver the projects successfully.

Essential:

  • Civil Engineering Degree or equivalent
  • Membership of the Institution of Civil Engineers
  • CEng professional qualification, or advanced progression towards CEng Chartership (i.e. IEng already achieved, or all CEng attributes signed off);
  • A critical eye for detail on civil engineering drawings and supporting calculations
  • Knowledge of Eurocodes and industry best practice as applied to civil engineering design of underground structures and foundations
  • Knowledge of ground investigation methodology and experience managing GI subcontracts,
  • Are flexible, know how to connect with others and pride yourself on bringing positive ideas to the team,
  • Experience of proactively managing commercial aspects of contracts, including preparation and review of early warnings and contract variations/change.
  • A background of maintaining CPD and creating learning and development opportunities for own benefit and others.
  • Knowledge of BIM and BIM principles including software solutions
  • A full UK driving license

The Role:

· The Lead Project Engineer – Civil Engineering makes sure engineering development due to other project disciplines (mainly Signalling, E&P and Telecoms) is reflected in the civil engineering design deliverables; and likewise any changes to assets driven by civil engineering design is discussed and agreed with the other interfacing engineering disciplines.

· You will ensure the civil engineering designs are safe and buildable by ensuring input from the CRE Civils Construction has been sought and included from the earliest opportunity and regularly throughout design development stage.

· You will manage client expectation both internally (Project Manager, other disciplines, construction) and externally (Network Rail, HS2, public stakeholders) by a confident and assured communication style, maintaining and utilising performance data to demonstrate progress of the civil engineering deliverables.
