Experienced/Lead Track Engineer for the project
Reporting to the Senior Rail Engineer the job holder will be responsible Permanent Way Engineering Key aspects of the role involve:
Lead and direct the Permanent Way Site Engineering Teams
Undertake design reviews to ensure they include all information to facilitate construction
Ensure pre-construction site surveys are undertaken and report back to the design teams
Ensure Setting out Control points are verified & installed to facilitate construction
Co-ordinate site engineering teams to ensure optimum usage of onsite closures
Ensure the production of Task Briefs to for the engineering on site functions
Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities
Setting-out and management of track and rail alignment activities to ensure 100% compliance to the project plans
Undertake engineering integration for Civils and Permanent Way works during the design and construction periods.
Interpret survey information for feedback to the design and construction teams
Lead and direct Geotechnical Engineers, Structures Engineers, Drainage Engineers, Permanent Way Engineers and Civil Engineers during constructability reviews and onsite construction works.
Identify key on site risks during design reviews and construction reviews.
Co-ordinate access arrangements for the respective engineers within planned access arrangements.
Undertake value engineering exercises during design and constructability reviews.
Plan engineering teams workloads around the overall delivery programme
Ensure site engineers are competent in their roles and responsibilities and identify additional training requirements as necessary.
Identify correct and obtain the correct survey equipment for the works being undertaken
Ensure on site verification of setting out takes place and is recorded.
Undertake on site safety inspections on a monthly basis.
Provide input into design meetings and construction meetings on a periodic basis.
Person Specification
Qualified to degree level in a relevant engineering discipline.
Experience in similar role
Excellent permanent way and civil engineering technical ability
Proven experience in various forms of slab track engineering and construction
Excellent knowledge in the use of the latest setting out equipment and the associated tools available
Good communication skills with the ability to communicate the project engineering requirements of the project
Experience in leading and directing Civil Engineering and Permanent Way Technical Engineers ensuring the project design and construction engineering requirements are transferred to on site delivery.
Excellent organisational skills ensuring surveying and setting out requirements are completed prior to the site works commencing.
Ability to understand engineering dependencies across all disciplines involved in the Westside Project Works.
Experience in liaising with Construction Managers on site ensuring the works are installed to the required construction tolerances.
Possess the necessary management skills to provide excellent leadership and motivational skills within the team.
Ability to work in a team environment with the minimum of supervision.
Ability to raise technical issues on site back to the design teams providing possible solutions.
Excellent understanding of the IDC process and ability to offer up solutions during the reviews.
Excellent organisational skills and ability to manage workload ensuring successful project completion.
Ability to produce reports detailing engineering progress on site highlighting progress on site against the overall project plan.
