Project Development Lead - Rail - North West - Permanent

Project Development Lead for a number of large scale Rail infrastructure projects required for a number of projects across the North West. The role will involve developing rail projects from feasibility studies, development of proposals and construction. This work is critical to the future of the rail infrastructure in the North of England, and you will be tasked with working with stakeholders at regional level, to develop potential rail infrastructure improvement projects.

The role will involve:

  • Supporting senior management in the development of a large scale rail infrastructure improvement plan
  • Working closely with stakeholders at a regional level to lead the rail programme
  • Attending technical forums and meetings
  • Assessing feasibility and buildability for proposed rail infrastructure construction projects
  • Managing the progress of programme development, with effective monitoring
  • Preparing technical paperwork, and providing progress updates for senior management and stakeholders
  • Overseeing budgets, and preparation of recommendations
  • Implementing and managing continuous improvement plans for the wider development team
  • Implementation and management of project management processes

Essential Experience:

  • Able to manage and motivate a team of technical staff, in the development of large scale rail infrastructure projects
  • Providing coaching, mentoring and assessing how professional development can be best utilised for the wider technical team
  • Able to lead research and development within a specialist technical area, overseeing how resources can be best utilised
  • Experienced Project Manager, with a hands on approach and a detailed technical understanding of rail construction and civil engineering projects
  • Experience of budget management and budget control, ensuring value for money

Requirements:

  • Degree educated or equivalent in Civil engineering or related subject
  • Professionally qualified, working to chartered status or chartership achieved
  • Able to demonstrate an excellent track record in the development of rail infrastructure projects and project delivery
  • Broad knowledge of rail transport strategy, planning and rail engineering
