Mechanical Lead Engineer - Rolling Stock
A well-known European engineering and manufacturing company is looking for a Mechanical Lead Engineer. The Mechanical Lead Engineer for Rolling Stock will be based in Paris
Purpose of the Job
-Managing and developing the Mechanical Team on Site
-Promoting and ensuring deployment of QMS and corresponding Engineering Instructions, Process and tools for Mechanical Domain on Site.
-Managing the Mechanical Domain workload on Site
Position

Mechanical Domain Top 10 issues
Continuous improvement of the Mechanical Domain team performance for project/program activities (OTD, FTR, etc)
Respect of QCD work packages at Mechanical Domain level
Mechanical design reviews performed on time and documented
Workload management at Mechanical Domain level People Management cycle on time / Succession plan
Responsibilities
Ensuring the proper follow-up of the Metier Quality and Delivery on Mechanical Domain Work packages for the Site.
Ensuring understanding and application of the TD rules, processes and tools (single-domain).
Ensuring that mechanical design reviews (single domain) are prepared and documented as per the project/program schedule and to
follow-up the main open actions.
Ensuring proper collaborative work with other Domains/Metier/Departments
Defining mitigation plans covering a risk identified on Mechanical Domain scope.
Responsible for Managing the development of the site Mechanical Domain team to ensure the adequacy of the capacity vs workload vs skills and the
transfer of activities if needed.
Defining Mechanical Domain fixed costs and workload to secure project QCD commitments and formalizing hypothesis taken.
Defining Mechanical Domain architecture taking into account weight, gauge, installation strategy, acoustics, eco design, ergonomics, aerodynamics, aeraulics
Allocating adequate mechanical resources to the projects/programs/tenders.
Applying and follow-up the People Management Cycle on time for Mechanical Domain team according to N+1 and HR instructions.
Supporting the Mechanical Domain team in the resolution of issues and challenging actions (multi-domains) in particular those involving other stakeholders (internal or external).
Reporting on Mechanical Domain activities progress and alerting in case of main issue (capacity, skills, rule applicability, etc.).
Validating relevant Mechanical Domain deliverables and securing planning.
Signalling issue and/or making proposals to TD Central Engineering that would contribute to continuous improvement of the Mechanical Domain Contributor for :
Collaborating with the Central Engineering TD team for continuous improvement of the Metier (including RoE)
Knowledge & Experience
Mechanical Engineering applied to Railway products (or Automotive domain or Aerospace domain) with extensive experience
Experience of team management
Good Communications and interpersonal skills
Conflict Management and multitasking
Customer Focus / Management skills
Structured and organised with Hand-on approach
English operational in read/writing and technical meetings.
Total Mechanical Domain team: 10 to 40 persons (depending on the site)
The objectives setting and appraisal can be delegated to MLE or ME depending the project affectation and duration.
