Permanent
Role: Senior / Lead Ecologist
Location: Essex
Salary: £35,000 - £50,000
Benefits: Healthcare, Bonus Scheme, Pension, Expenses Paid
I am looking to place a Senior Ecologist in a consultancys office in Essex supporting ecological biodiversity projects, mitigation licencing, preliminary ecological appraisals and surveys. The role is to support environmentally-friendly infrastructure developments and construction as well as ecological consultancy services. The firm offers multidisciplinary engineering design services as well as environmental consultancy services across Ecology, Air Quality, Acoustics, Geo-Environmental and general EIA management.
This position is a first-in post for the region in terms of ecology. You will have support from environmental/ecological staff from other offices, but you should be comfortable managing your own workload in the Essex area. You will be responsible for developing a team under you, but you should be personally competent in the preparation of fee proposals, report writing, and development of mitigation plans in order to be effective in this role. You will be competent in GIS mapping (ArcGIS or QGIS preferred).
The firm is involved with mitigation plans for a number of protected species, so relevant licences would be useful for this role (GCNs, reptiles, dormice, bats, plants, etc). Ideally, you will also hold Chartered Ecologist (CEcol) / Chartered Environmentalist (CEnv) status via the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM).
This is a very broad role in that you will work as part of the wider environmental team, work with clients from a variety of industries (energy, road + rail infrastructure, construction, defence, healthcare, and more) and develop a suitable team under you. This would be an excellent opportunity for someone looking for a fresh challenge where they can take on, develop and manage a team with a lasting legacy.
For more information, please apply or contact Sam at Critical Project Resourcing (tel: <phone number removed> ).
