Technical Lead / Associate Director - Hydrology

Location: Glasgow or Perth with remote working.

Salary: Circa £65,000 - £75,000 negotiable dependant on experience plus package & bonus.

Role Summary

A fast growing Environmental Consultancy specialising in ecology and hydrology are looking to appoint a Technical Lead in their thriving Hydrology team
The successful candidate would take a lead role in the senior management team which leads the development of existing and new services and help to ensure that the team as a whole deliver a first rate sustainable service to clients.

As a technical lead the candidate would be expected to spear head the delivery of selected service offerings and development of close relationships with clients and act as technical expert on complex projects.

Responsibilities will include:

- Leading hydrological analysis for flood studies based on the Flood Estimation Handbook as well as low flow studies
- Technical leadership of multi-disciplinary teams for flood analysis and flood risk assessments
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities and support sales opportunities across wider business
- Project management, resource management and delivery of hydrology projects to ensure quality, budget and timescale requirements are met.
- Quality assurance of hydrology deliverables to include technical checking of calculations and ensuring project scope has been fulfilled.
- Mentoring and training of junior staff in aspects of hydrology consultancy work including technical skills and business acumen.
- Working within a wide range of service areas including but not limited to construction drainage advice, hydrogeology, flood risk assessment, drainage design and impact assessment, CAR licensing and EIA.
- Chairing meetings and communicating with clients, regulators, sub-contractors and colleagues.

Seeking candidates with

- Strong' relevant experience within the consultancy, water company or regulatory fields, ideally within the UK.
- Environmental Science, Engineering or similar subject with hydrology related content.
- Demonstrable thorough understanding of general hydrological techniques
- Working knowledge of WFD and Environmental Impact Assessments
- Knowledge and application of hydraulic modelling packages and proven ability to lead water teams in the development of hydraulic model solutions
- Working knowledge of relevant legislation, planning policy, guides and design standards relating to flood risk assessment
- Experience maintaining and developing sales through good client relationships and understanding of the market.
- Chartered or working towards chartership. CIWEM or equivalent
- Full valid drivers' licence.
