Telecommunications Lead Technician (L2)

We are looking for a Telecoms Lead Tech (Level 2) to provide support and assistance to the FMT Team, to Respond to, attend site and rectify faults in a timely manner to minimise train delays, safety risks, and failures that convenience our client or travelling public. Carry out routine maintenance in a safe, efficient, and cost effective way.

As a Telecoms Lead Technician (Level 2) you will…

- Target for response to a train delay/safety fault is 20 minutes from receipt of call from FRC/AICC to reaching site. Ensure FRC is rung when the team gets to site to confirm arrival.
- Diagnose and repair faults to restore equipment to service as soon as possible. Where not possible there and then, liaise with customers via FRC to ensure that a way forward is agreed that is accepted by all relevant parties. Where possible make safe, restore service, and return later to make a permanent repair.
- Accurately record details of faults on the Fault Cards, so that it is clear what happened, when, and what the next steps are if the fault is still open.
- Where you do not have the resources or competence to correct faults from within the fault team, identify the extent of the fault, location, what track access is needed. Take photos as necessary and pass on full details to the relevant manager.
- Where the fault is a safety or train delay fault, liaise with a senior manager (the on-call manager out of hours) to ensure the necessary support.
- Where the fault is a lift fault, ensure a team member attends and if unable to resolve (or an entrapment) meets the lift engineer on site to ensure that we have a record of what they do to restore the lift.
- Assist the Site Engineer in ensuring that the Fault database and AMIS are up to date and accurate. Ensure that you know the status of all faults or what is outstanding and who is actioning it. Ensure this is recorded in the Fault database and AMIS.
- Be in full PPE at all times
- Carry out routine maintenance as per the maintenance programme
- Assist the Site Engineer in creating a shift report for each shift identifying what maintenance and faulting was carried out.

• BTEC ONC- HNC-HND in electronics and telecoms (E)
• IRSE in Telecoms (D)
• PTS

• Basic first aid
• QAF54 Room Awareness
• Understand principles and maintenance of CCTV
• SDH Transmission, Fibre optic
• Tunnel telephone systems
• GSMR/DMR radio
• Vids platform information screens
• PABX, Telephony
• CCTV NVR, DVR over network
• Public address systems
• Commend help points
• OSI 7 layer model
