Business Developer - Rail Maintenance in Wallingford, Oxfordshire, United Kingdom
Our client are the world's leading provider of geo-intelligence and asset integrity solutions for large constructions, infrastructure and natural resources.
The purpose of the role is to drive business development and sales of new maintenance-based tamping operations, focusing on direct sales to Network Rail.
The successful candidate will be working with the client to drive and develop sales propositions and internal liaison with management and colleagues re incoming sales, product development, client feedback and solution enhancements.
Working experience and/or background directly relating to the maintenance of operational railway infrastructure is essential, preferably with a technical understanding of tamping operations and track geometry.
Management expertise and technical know-how in the assessment of maintenance of rail infrastructure, accompanied by selling and/or delivering innovative services to rail maintainers will be key to the delivery of this role
Core Activities:-
- Manage, develop, maintain and create new client relationships within the railway infrastructure maintenance sector.
- Build a strong client facing network and influence stakeholders to develop an in-depth understanding of client's needs and challenges.
- Manage and develop new opportunities in the U.K. rail maintenance sector.
- Develop a deep understanding of, and further refine, the company's unique value proposition to the rail maintenance sector and apply this from the early phases of client engagement and throughout the sales process.
- Proactively manage the funnel of opportunities within CRM to provide a stable and on target orderbook.
- Utilise online business intelligence portals for assist with the role, including LinkedIn Sales Navigator, Global Data and Glenigan.
- Pro-actively visit clients to develop long term relationships and progress opportunities for work.
- Liaise with Communications and Marketing Departments to promote capability externally (events, literature, workshops, website, podcasts and articles).
- Assist with developing and updating marketing material for region, including, brochures, projects references, CV's, etc.
- Act as bid manger and lead preparation of bids.
- Maintain tracking of proposals
- Utilise SMART pricing strategies and value propositions to improve bid success.
- Inform business strategy with rail maintenance market trends in short, medium and long term to direct and guide business growth and business objectives.
Education/Skills/Attributes:-
- A Science, Engineering or Management based Degree or equivalent qualification
- Demonstrable record of selling service-based offerings within the Railway Industry
- Technical understanding P-Way/Track Engineering, Operations, Surveying
- Client focus:- Stakeholder engagement, Account Management
- Experience of NEC3/4 and/or NR3/4 Contracting
- CSCS / Personal Track Safety competencies
