AFC Senior Engineer - Egypt High Speed Rail

The market leading infrastructure recruitment specialists are supporting a leading European consultancy and are requiring an AFC Senior Engineer for the Egypt High-Speed Rail

Mission:

• Leading the Automatic Fare Collection team (electrical engineers and inspectors) in the development of Automatic Fare Collection systems in relation to system enhancements, revenue operations advancement and integration into the overall rail transport system
• Leading the development and review of detailed Automatic Fare Collection system design documents, technical specifications, drawings, test procedures and maintenance programs
• Acting in an final acceptance capacity on all technical matters related to the design of the Automatic Fare Collection system to ensure contractual and maintenance compliance requirements
• Managing and monitoring contractors in establishing Automatic Fare Collection system as per contractual agreement
• Coordinating with Automatic Fare Collection contractors on all operational matters regarding the integration of systems such as the existing bus network and the linking of the car park fare system
• Monitoring the performance of contractors in compliance with safety and security requirements
• Participating in design review meetings with the contractors and the client and ensuring all system specification measures are accomplished
• Leading regular reviews with the Design Team on the progress of the design and any engineering changes within the scope of the contract
• Reviewing and evaluating existing Key Performance Indicators for Automatic Fare Collection operations
• Proposing standards of measurements for assessing the effectiveness and efficiency of Automatic Fare Collection system operations
• Maintaining records of overruns in the design review process and the cause of each delay
• Managing and ensuring the implementation of the preventive and corrective maintenance of the Automatic Fare Collection system and related features
• Validating the whole of life maintenance schedule and evaluating the impact of design changes on maintenance activities schedule
• Conducting assessments of Automatic Fare Collection system performance in revenue protection, data accuracy and equipment operations
• Monitoring all system integration tests, operational readiness and implementation of new fare system

Requirements for the role are:

• The successful candidate must meet ALL the essential criteria below:
• A bachelor degree in electrical engineering
• Over 15 years experience work experience on the design and construction phases of heavy civil projects
• Experience in the design of fare collection including smart card, contactless and magnetic media or other revenue systems such Euro Card, Master Card, Visa Card, and Electronic Fund Transfer
• Ability to successfully lead, develop and motivate a multidisciplinary team of engineers
• Strong change management skills and the ability to successfully resolve issues despite obstacles and resistance desirable
• Strong track record in transportation system projects such as bus, rail or metro
• High speed experience is preferrable
