Abut the Company:
Our client has an exciting opportunity for an Alternative Transport Planner to join their team based in Birmingham. Our client is currently investing £1 billion to improve rail services from London to Liverpool and across the West Midlands. This includes new trains, improved stations and better journeys.
This role will assist the Road Transport Manager to manage the procurement and implementation of pre-planned rail replacement road transport, ensuring that resource efficiency and budget control are maintained.
Alternative Transport Planner Responsibilities:
- Reports to the Road Transport Manager
- Able to make decisions regarding rail replacement transport plans based on knowledge and previous experience
- Raise requisitions using procurement system
- Ensure compliance with the requirements of the Health & Safety at Work Act
- Assist in the management of supplier delivery to meet user needs, with regular review processes and progress updates. For both rail replacement and train crew road transport requirements.
- Assist in the production of budget and financial reporting requirements in conjunction with Finance.
- Attend regular supplier review for rail replacement suppliers.
- Systematic review of opportunities available to improve outputs.
- Report at required periodicity to the key stakeholders about emerging issues and opportunities and any action taken.
- Investigate complaints from both internal and external customers and traincrew. Provide feedback to Customer Relations and Traincrew managers concerning road transport complaints.
- Deputise for the Informed Travel Assistant as required.
- Any other duties commensurate with the grade and post and as required.
Alternative Transport Planner Requirements:
- Good knowledge of Microsoft office software, including Word, Access and Excel
- Knowledge of TRUST and train planning software
- Understanding of the rail industry
- Knowledge of our clients operations and geography
