I am looking for a contracts manager with a good vegetation background, to deliver technical excellence for a business looking to develop its contracts in the central region.

Role

You will have previous experience working in a similar role within programmes from a engineering aspect. This role would suit a senior pm or contracts manager.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Ensure that safe working practices and Health and Safety legislation are adhered to. The successful candidate will liaise closely with Health and Safety Professionals to ensure full compliance with all company and legislative requirements.
  • Operational management of a diverse team of both direct and sub-contracted staff.
  • Weekly planning and programming extracted from longer term programme recognition and requirement. Organisation and allocation of resources to carry out contracted works. Ensuring that the works are completed safely, to the required quality, on time and within budget. Maintaining discipline in the workforce.
  • Planning, sequencing and methodology of work and implementation of safe systems of work. Communication of the sequence and methods to the Workforce and site staff. Identify any requirement for Hired Plant and small plant and equipment. Site Logistics (e.g. vehicles, plant, deliveries, TM etc.).
  • Collaborative Business Relationships and Customer Liaison. We have a broad and extensive customer base. Representation of the company at meetings and events to continue our growth and embed our approach to delivery of work, we have a great reputation nationally.
  • Understand the wider team. A good level of support to the team will be essential as will the recognition of individuals strengths and weaknesses. We adopt an inclusive ethic, it is a small, but growing team and everyone needs to fulfil their potential to continue to be successful.

Essential requirements:

  • The successful candidate will be experienced in working within the construction sector and will have experience of managing people in an office and site setting.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to discuss, define and communicate complex ideas.
  • Elements of the role will be Client facing. As a specialist subcontractor, collaboration and liaison will be key skills to possess and are what our Clients demand. Building relationships, gaining trust and respect with our Clients is a key objective.

Desirable:

  • Although not essential it would also be advantageous if you have a degree in a relevant discipline such as Civil Engineering.
