An exciting role as an EHS advisor you will be responsible for all EHS requirements within the designated geographical area of the Signalling, Systems and Infrastructure (SS&I) UK & I business unit.
Role Overview
- To support the SS&I business in maintaining, Environmental, Health and Safety and (EHS) compliance against Alstom's and project requirements.
- To advise the Project team on all aspects of EHS and offer support and assistance where required in order to successfully deliver the project and maintain and improve EHS standards in line with Alstom's requirements.
Key Resposnsibilities
- Develop and implement strategies taking into account the business and corporate requirements for managing and continually improving the company's safety standards.
- Ensure that the relevant EHS requirements of AZDP are effectively applied on the project.
- Assist in the development and reviewing the safety aspects of the following documents: Construction
- Phase Plans, Work Package Plans, Task Briefing Sheets, Environmental Management Plans, Quality Management Plan and Site Waste Management Plans.
- Ensuring EHS inductions are prepared for new projects and critical EHS information remains current including - existing induction packs, posters, notices, signage, registers, procedures etc.
- Providing/obtaining advice/guidance and giving assistance on general EHS matters.
- Carry out safety inspections in accordance with the company and project requirements and, where possible, close out actions within required timescales.
- Ensuring EHS compliance etc. for projects/project locations e.g. locations. - risk assessments, welfare arrangements, communication and employee engagement and project safety meetings.
- Undertake project inductions.
- Carrying out training sessions/briefings on EHS topics as necessary to project team.
- Monitoring employees and contractors to ensure that activities are undertaken in accordance with agreed standards (e.g. client, industry, OHSAS 45001 and HSG65), procedures, and Work Package Plans/task briefs (Method statements).
- Undertaking/reporting on formal EHS audits in line with Alstom's and the client's requirements.
- Compilation of EHS reports including KPIs' and Teranga information in line with required timescales.
- Assistance with accident/incident, near miss/close call investigations in line with Alstom's accident/incident investigation process.
- Manage direct reports to meet company and project requirements.
- Where relevant, ensure that team members objectives are set in line with company requirements and ALPS is maintained accordingly.
- Manage EHS events in EHS connect.
Essential Requirements
- NEBOSH certification
- Personal Track Safety
- Member of IOSH
- First Aid at Work
- Trained auditor
- Persuasive communicator with the ability to explain legislative information clearly and concisely.
- Demonstrates as good used of initiative.
- Experience of the Railway Industry
Desirable attributes may include
- Experience in project quality management
- Good all round knowledge of occupational EHS and operational railway safety regulations and standards
- Principal Contractor Safety, Health and Environment experience
- Plant/work equipment operations
- IEMA certificate
- D32/33/34 (A1/V1) Competency
- Auditor
- Fire Warden certification.
