The Northumberland line reopening project aims to see the return of passenger trains to the line by 2024.
The project has seen Network Rail work in partnership with Northumberland County Council, Northern and the Department for Transport. It is hoped that the transformational project can help stimulate and support local economic growth, regeneration and community development in Northumberland and the surrounding regions.
Across the length of the project, 18 miles of track and signalling will be upgraded, six new stations opened and three new footbridges installed.
The E&S Advisor will provide guidance, support, advice and compliance monitoring on Environment and Sustainability. They will provide on-site engagement, coaching and support on E&S and promote safe behaviours on site.
What you'll be doing
- Contribute to the implementation of the Zero Harm & Sustainability Action Plan
- Provide support to investigate accidents, incidents and near miss events.
- Undertake planned & unplanned inspections, audit and reviews of projects
- Produce formal reports on findings and and communicate these to the project.
- Contribute to local and national E&S projects (e.g. Involved Plans, Social Value,
- Environmental Social Management Plans)
- Be involved at the planning stage to support design teams to identify and control risk.
- Engage with site teams to identify best practice environmental mitgations and
- improved environmental compliance.
- Deliver on-going approved E&S Awareness Training to meet project and business
- needs
- Actively provide support and guidance to the supply chain & subcontractors.
- Assist in the development of E&S case studies and best practice.
- Assist in the compilation of risk assessments and written environmental safe systems of work
- Ensure the project is compliant with all E&S Regulations
- Ensure lessons learned are effectively communicated across the Project /Business
- area.
- Identify and support ecological enhancement activities
Who we're looking for
- Practioner Membership of IEMA
- Educated to Degree level in a relevant field
- Good communicator with influencing and persuasion skills
- Good interpersonal skills and team player
- Incident investigator/fact finder
- Accurate record keeping
- Relevant experience matched with their Project /Business area.
